Dr Simon J Feeney – Chinese Medicine Physician
Simon has studied Traditional Medicine under a Theravadin Buddhist Monk for the past 15 years. This inspired his formal studies in Melbourne at the Southern School of Natural Therapies where he completed his Bachelor Degree of Chinese Herbal Medicine and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture.
He has continued his studies in the classical Chinese Medicine works of the Han Dynasty (200BC) along with the refined art of Traditional Japanese Acupuncture. He is also a trained Bowen Therapist.
For the last 10 years he has been working closely with his teacher to understand ancient scriptures from Burma (now called Myanmar), these writings’ largely pertain to medical knowledge. He has travelled extensively through Thailand and Myanmar documenting these texts and assisting in the preservation of this ancient knowledge.
Simon has studied intensively under one of Melbourne’s leading Chinese Medicine gynaecologists. He also has a special interest in chronic conditions, internal medicine, sub-clinical health and many other ‘hard to treat’ conditions.
Simon is the director of the registered non-for-profit organisation “Saffron Herbal”, that works with refugees and displaced persons on the Thai-Burma border. Simon is a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society as well as a Registered member of Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
Simon has completed an extensive post-graduate education including a specialist course in Canonical Chinese Medicine under the international acclaimed educator and physician Dr Arnaud Versluys PhD director of Institute of Classical East Asian Medicine (ICEAM).
Simon is currently undertaking his Master’s project proposal on the dosage and administration techniques of the Shang Han Lun and Jin Gui Yao Lue at the University of Technology in Sydney (UTS).
